One of my tasks this holiday time is to update by contact database. I am scanning in the business cards I collected from EXPO EXPO, so I know those folks are at their current location. However, in this tough economic climate, there are thousands of people who have lost their job, or companies who are no longer in existence. So my database is in need of a tune up. So I thought I would offer you some suggestions on what you can do to clean up your own list.
First, send a New Year’s email greeting. Take a close look at the ones who could not be delivered or bounced back. Then call and see if the person is still there.
If you have sales people, have them collect all the changes in your customers locations which have occurred over the last few months and then update your databases.
Your sales people or some internal staff needs to call the prospect database and determine what the status of the individuals are – still there or have they left or been replaced?
This process is time consuming, and most companies put it off. But the cleaner your information is it provides you with a clear picture as to what you have to work on for future business.
If you need a call center to help you with these tasks, I know a great one in the Dallas Ft. Worth area. Call me, and I will provide the name for you.
