Trade Shows Going Green?

By Joyce McKee | February 22, 2008

If you have not had a chance to pick up your copy of the White Paper sponsored by Exhibitor Magazine – “An Inconvenient Booth”, you should.

You can find it at -

It was produced originally in the November Exhibitor Magazine, but in January has been made available to the industry. You must provide your name and email address to obtain the download, the PDF.

The topic of being Green is a responsibility for all of us, in my opinion.

I know from my Board Meetings with the IAEE Services Board, it was a topic much discussed. The entire industry is talking Green – exhibitors, suppliers and show organizers.

Here are a couple of highlights to gain your attention:

"All told, the survey results indicate that an untapped market for Green exhibiting options does exist — to the tune of an estimated $9.24 billion. But for that market to become a reality, exhibitors and suppliers alike first must overcome a number of obstacles that currently impede broader adoption of Green solutions across the industry. A majority of exhibitors (62 percent) and suppliers (81 percent) we surveyed reported that their personal interest in Green exhibiting options is high or very high. 51% of exhibitors believe adopting Greener practices will enhance their companies’ brand and image."

This topic will have a long life in our industry as we look for ways to save our planet.

This is just one of many steps in the overall process.

And it will be very interesting to watch how these “obstacles” are overcome by minds and resources of our industry.

Until next time,

Joyce McKee
