What Do Trade Shows, Glazed-Eyed Zombies, Chicken Sticks, Gold, And Opportunities Lurking Have In Common?

By Joyce McKee | March 21, 2008

We are surrounded by countless opportunities.

I believe that I walk in a field of limitless opportunities every day.

One needs to be ready to take advantage of any opportunity presented.

And that is especially of the event world.

You just never know who you will meet and where that chance encounter will take place.

Attendees and suppliers are walking the aisles of the show floor every day, standing in the food line, sitting next to one another at an educational session – and the list could go on and on.

You get the picture – an important person could be the next person you meet at the show.

Are you ready?

OR are you like so many attendees who are walking around like a zombie?

You know the zombie trance – the attendee has a glazed look in their eyes and seems to be drifting along with the crowd.

The stories of chance meetings that turn into business abound.

One of my colleague’s boasts of sharing a small table by a concession stand and over chicken sticks met a prospect who within a short time actually became a customer!

When preparing for show time I think we need to consider ALL of the opportunities for us to listen to those individuals we meet and care about their needs and maybe our products or services can be appropriate for them.

Please share your stories with us on how a trade show opportunity turned into gold for you.

Until next time…

You won’t find zombies on your B2B website.
By the pages visited, you will know if the visitor is interested or not: visitor qualification. Zombies will not pass the test.

By using a service for revealing the company name of the visitor, the salesman will know which companies to address by email or cold calls.
The pages visited will also indicate the department within the company to contact.

Trade shows are moving from the physical world into the virtual world due to he convenience of finding everything through search engines.

Before spending money on a trade show, investigate your website with the appropriate web service.
